About Us

A UK holding company with global stewardship.

Macsteel Global Limited is a UK incorporated company and serves as the ultimate holding company of the Macsteel Global Group. Headquartered in London, the company provides strategic stewardship, governance oversight and corporate services across a diversified international portfolio of businesses operating in steel trading, maritime logistics and steel service centres.

Profile

The Group’s footprint spans Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and the Americas, reflecting a long-established presence in global commodity markets. Macsteel Global focuses on long-term value creation through disciplined governance, risk management and support of its Business Units, rather than direct operational trading.

Macsteel Global Limited is the indirect holding company of Macsteel International Trading Holdings Limited, MUR Group BV and Macsteel Service Centres SA (Pty) Ltd. It is also the holding company of MacGlobal Management Limited, which operates from London as the Group’s corporate services company and as the holding company of its Business Units.

The Macsteel International Trading Holdings Group has been trading steel and raw materials for over forty years, operating through four main hubs located strategically in Dubai, New York, Melbourne and Monterrey. This Business Unit has grown substantially from its origins in the Far East during the early 1980s.

The MUR Group is the shipping Business Unit of the Macsteel Group and is a leading provider of maritime logistics and freight services. Over the past thirty years, MUR has developed as a standalone business, transporting metals, minerals, agricultural products, construction materials and specialist cargoes across six continents. The business has offices in The Netherlands, Denmark, UAE, South Africa, Hong Kong, India, USA, Chile, Singapore and Australia and each year completes over 1,000 voyages across more than 24 core trade routes, serving over 300 customers globally.

With a rich legacy spanning over 120 years, the Macsteel Service Centres Group is a leading manufacturer, merchandiser and distributor of steel and value-added steel products on the African continent. This Business Unit operates through a strategic network of over 40 service centres, branches and warehouses in South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Angola, Ghana, Malawi and Mozambique, providing personalised service throughout the steel and steel products supply chain.

Steel is a cyclical commodity, and the Group has demonstrated resilience through multiple global economic cycles, including the Asian financial crisis of 1997, the global financial crisis of 2008 and the Covid-19 pandemic, while continuing to perform strongly during periods of economic expansion.

Macsteel Global remains committed to the ongoing development and expansion of its businesses and continues to provide experienced worldwide trading and shipping services and comprehensive supply chain management expertise.

Mission Statement

To be the most dynamic and respected international provider of steel, maritime logistics and freight services.

Linking producers and consumers of steel and similar commodities through efficient and reliable communication and supply lines via marketing, shipping, logistics and finance, and developing freight services in partnership with our clients to create customised solutions to often complex and time-sensitive shipping needs — with the utmost regard to ethical practices, environmental sustainability and our stakeholders.

Leadership

Experience. Independence. Judgement.

The Board of Macsteel Global Limited is accountable for the Group’s strategy, capital allocation and governance standards.
